Tenants' Rights Virtual Panel

Join us at 7pm the 14th of April here to learn how our tenancy rights are changing in response to the COVID19 pandemic, and discuss the questions this crisis raises for the viability of the private rental system. Panellists will include Leo Patterson-Ross, Senior Policy Officer at the Tenants’ Union of NSW, and Shannen Potter, former Junior Vice President of Young Labor and member of Young Labor Left.
The COVID19 crisis has laid bare the precarity built into our current system. Thousands are out of work, and our Federal government has dragged its feet both on rolling out appropriate social security supports, and clarifying who will have access to them. Renters have been hit hard, particularly those who are casual and undocumented workers, and face precarious access to food, housing and healthcare. In these difficult times, we need both practical knowledge of our rights within this system, and to articulate how we challenge it.
The panel will be held via Zoom, and participation will be encouraged -
