YLL in the media

The protest against Lee Kuan Yew was a tremendous success with approximately 100 students and a significant number of ANU staff turning out to give the ANU and Mr. Lee hell.
Photos will be up as soon as i can get a hold of the ANUSA camera…. but in the mean time check out these links below which Ben has kindly provided me; they link to of some of the media that the protest received - Benny is quoted numerous times throughout. I also recommend getting a hold of thursday’s SMH and Canberra Times as the protest is set to feature.
Thanks for everyone for turning out and good luck to the Law Students for Social Justice with their upcoming legal action against the ANU.
Thankyou also goes to the ANU staff who have been advertising this event and kicking up a fuss over this issue such as Andrew Walker of RSPAS (great pics on his blog). Thanks also to the Singapore Democratic Party and Singabloodypore for putting the word out in Lee’s own land.

The news coverage was great - especially SBS and the Canberra Times.
Is there anything else we can do on this issue? Call for a review of how these “honourary” degrees are awarded? Call for the full involvement of students and staff?

apparently Ian Chubb might be coming to an SRC meeting sometime soon. if this happens then we’ll be sure to give him a right grilling on the issue. I haven’t heard from the Law Students for Social Justice recently to hear how their legal action is going so if this gets up then that should trigger some serious internal reviews etc. If not then you’re right we’re gonna have to keep abreast of the ANU is up to and keep them accountable.
