Join Young Labor Left and hear from freedom rides activist and organiser Brian Aarons at our start of semester welcome drinks!
Inspired by the United States 1961 Freedom Rides, a group of Sydney University activists partook in a road trip in 1965 through Western NSW to unveil the experiences of Aboriginal people to the wider Australian public.
The Freedom Ride reveals the power of grassroots organising. Young Labor Left seeks to engage ordinary young people who want to see a fair and just society. We believe a democratic socialist movement is the only way in which we achieve First Nations sovereignty, women’s rights, workers rights and queer liberation.
