LGBT Homelessness Policy Disussion

Homelessness remains an intolerable injustice in Australia today. It is a mark of capitalism’s many failures, and the oppression, exploitation, and violence it propagates. It is unacceptable, in our wealthy society, for any person to be without a permanent home, and the over-representation of First Nations people, older women, people with disabilities, and LGBTQ people on our streets and in insecure housing is a function of the profound injustices our economy and society operate on.
According to the LGBTI Homelessness Research Project, queer people are twice as likely to experience homelessness and insecure housing than other Australians, and remain at risk of harassment, violence, & discrimination in private and unreliable accommodation. Please join Young Labor Left via Zoom to learn from social workers and writers about the political and policy dimensions of queer housing and homelessness.
